A Wedding at DeGrazia Gallery in Tucson, AZ
There’s something special about witnessing a couple say "I do" in a place that’s rich in both art and history, especially when that history holds a personal connection. Shannon and Preston’s wedding at DeGrazia Gallery in the Sun was one of those unforgettable days that blended romance, legacy, art, and the beauty of the desert.
A First Look and Vow Reading Among DeGrazia’s Artwork
Shannon and Preston began their wedding day with a private first look and vow reading inside the gallery itself. Surrounded by the vibrant, expressive artwork of Ted DeGrazia, they shared intimate moments filled with excitement and anticipation. The artwork created an incredible backdrop for their bridal portraits, adding layers of color and meaning that felt unique to the space.
For me, capturing these moments in DeGrazia’s gallery was deeply meaningful. My grandfather and DeGrazia had become friends during their time serving together in Tucson with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). DeGrazia’s creative passion was a powerful influence on my grandfather, who was also an artist. Being part of this day in such a personal place was truly an honor.
Preston, an artist himself, felt a deep connection to the gallery’s rich history and artistic vibe, making it the ideal place for him and Shannon to begin their journey together. The stunning backdrop of DeGrazia’s work reflected the couple's shared passion for creativity, making their day even more meaningful.
An Intimate Ceremony in DeGrazia’s Chapel
After their first look, we moved to the chapel, which DeGrazia built himself as a serene space for reflection and connection. Inside the chapel, Shannon and Preston exchanged vows in front of a small group of loved ones. The chapel’s simplicity brought an intimate, heartfelt feeling to the ceremony, with warm light filtering through and filling the space with a soft glow.
The chapel’s walls hold the spirit of DeGrazia’s artistic vision and devotion to his work. As Shannon and Preston pledged their love to each other, it felt like they were adding to that history—a beautiful new chapter in a place that means so much to so many.
Capturing the Spirit of the Southwest
Throughout the day, we captured more moments around the gallery, framed by the Southwest’s stunning colors and textures. Shannon’s dress and Preston’s suit against the desert-inspired tones of the gallery made for striking images. Each photograph seemed to reflect the vibrant spirit of both DeGrazia’s legacy and Shannon and Preston’s love.
This wedding at DeGrazia Gallery was more than just a beautiful celebration—it was a tribute to Tucson’s history and to the connections that endure through generations. Shannon and Preston’s day reminded me of how love, art, and history intertwine in ways that make moments like these unforgettable.
A Reception at Culinary Dropout
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at Culinary Dropout in Tucson, where Shannon and Preston shared their first meal as a married couple. Surrounded by friends and family, they cut their cake and relaxed into the evening, enjoying good food, laughter, and the company of those they love. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful, the perfect way to unwind after the emotional and meaningful ceremony at DeGrazia Gallery.
